27 November 1999

Stressful morning.  I wasn't terribly pleased with the branch president.  Elder Millington and I showed up at the church in Tolosa at exactly 10:00 this morning, which was the planned time for the baptism of Leo and Maria Rosa.  The following people were there: the Zeta family, Sister Yepez, and two members of the Tolosa Branch.  I got changed into my baptismal clothes and waited, thinking that President Cobacha would show up soon with Maria Rosa.  At 10:45, Mary Chille arrived with Maria Rosa.  I asked her where President was, and she said he wasn't coming "kay damo trabaho" (because lots of work).  That made me angry, but I didn't show it as to avoid offending anyone.  I was angry for two reasons: one, it is his obligation to attend; and two, I was counting on having him there to witness.  Aside from me and Elder Millington, there were no priesthood holders.  We were kulang (lacking) one witness.  Mary Chille went to look for someone, but she came back alone.  "Next week na la," (we'll just do it next week) I said and apologized to Leo and Maria Rosa.  Then I went to change.  Just as I took my white tie off (at around 11:00), President Medina showed up.  He wasn't happy, either, because President Cobacha hadn't informed him about the baptism.  But at least we could continue the baptism.  We had a nice service.  I performed the baptisms, and I'll confirm them tomorrow.  I'm in a good mood now.  I would've been very upset if the baptism had been delayed.

LATER

We visited Hazel and Susan tonight.  We had a blast.  It reaffirmed my decision to request a transfer, too.  I'm going to miss those two, especially Hazel.  They're so funny.  I told them that I might be transferred on December 9.  They didn't seem to take me seriously.  I don't blame them, because I wasn't being too serious about it.  Susan and I started speaking Cebuano to each other.  Hazel joined in, too, because she speaks a bit of Cebuano.  Elder Millington tuned us out.  It was fun.  I miss Cebuano.  It felt good to speak it again.
