Here I am in Dulag, my fourth area. I am the district leader, and I'm Elder Werner's first follow-up trainer (
a follow-up trainer, in Tacloban, was any companion to an uncertified missionary after his trainer). He has been in the mission for two-and-a-half months now. His Waray-Waray isn't that great, so these next couple of weeks should be fun. I think I'll be able to pick Waray up pretty quickly. I was surprised by how much I actually understood as we worked this afternoon. I can't speak it, and I, of course, don't understand it nearly as well as I do Cebuano, but if I study hard and ask the Lord for help, I shouldn't have many problems. I think I'll enjoy this area, too. The people here seem very nice. There's this one group of dalagas (
young single women) in our teaching pool who are really cool. They accepted me as Elder Carlson's replacement quite readily. I actually spoke quite a bit to them. I spoke Cebuano with a bit of Waray mixed in, and they spoke Waray with a bit of Cebuano mixed in. It was cool.
I still miss Almeria a lot, though.
