23 November 1999

We went to Tolosa for district meeting this morning.  We waited at the church for the Tolosa elders.  When they approached in a pot-pot (foot-powered tricycle), I said to myself, "Wait a minute.  That's Elder Fabiculanan, but that's not Elder Mores with him."  It was Brother Depaz, a district missionary from Tolosa.  Elder Mores was emergency transferred to Malitbog last week.  There was no one to take his place here, so Elder Fabs is working with Brother Depaz for the next couple of weeks.  Elder Fabiculanan is feeling kind of down about it because, for one, it was a very sudden change and threw some plans off, and two, he's pretty much working by himself.  Brother Depaz is there just so that Elder Fabs isn't alone.

I've been "predicting" to everyone today that I'll be transferred on the ninth of December.  They don't think it will happen.  I'll show them.

LATER

We went out and got punted (missionary slang for "stood up") by our 1:30 appointment.  Then we went to Barbo and scheduled a reviews and baptismal interview with Maria Rosa.  We planned to go see a lady we met last week, but that fell through.  During all this time, I developed a pretty bad headache, so now we're back in the apartment.  I get dizzy every time I get up.  I'm taking it easy for now.  We'll go out later this afternoon and work.

I told Elder Millington about my plans to request a transfer, and why I feel a need to.  He said, "If you feel it's the right thing to do, I'm behind you all the way."  Now I'm just sitting around the apartment acting depressed about Hazel.

Elder Millington is worried that his follow-up trainer will be a Cebuano-speaker.  Maybe.  Elder Werner's first follow-up trainer (me) was a Cebuano-speaker.  Luckily for him, I picked up Waray very fast.  I wonder where I'll be transferred to?  I'd like it to be Cebuano or Borongan.  I've heard some good things about Borongan.  I don't want it to be in quad-zone (The four zones in and around Tacloban).  Ormoc would be nice.
