16 September 2000

Wednesday morning greeted me at 5:15 with diarrhea.  It was 1 November 1999 all over again.  Frequent, watery stool, and I vomited once violently.  That last part was in the office.  They took me to see Dr. Rubio, and she stuck me in the hospital overnight.  We watched Masters of the Universe, the live-action movie from the '80s.  It made me feel like a kid again.

So I got out of the hospital Thursday night, and had no companion to go home with, so I hung out with the new missionaries until this morning (Saturday).  There was a new Canadian among them: Elder Jensen from Waterton.  He seemed pretty cool.  I'll never see him again.  Elder Harline's greenie is Elder Jones.  He's from Utah.

Elder Wetenkamp and Elder Roth came to the hospital and visited me on Thursday morning.  So did Elder Swingler later in the day.  He's training again!  A big Samoan guy named Elder Tau.

I had an interview with President Dela Vega (it's almost zone conference).  He said that I can baptize Herminia and Don-Don Alidia.  I told them tonight, and it made them very happy.

The Amistoso kids and grandkids were really happy to see me today.  It had been almost a week since I had been there, and they were starting to think that maybe I wasn't coming back.
Elder Jones (brand new missionaries sweat like mad), Elder Harline, and Elder MacKenzie
