15 February 2000

I'm on a jeepney going from Borongan to Guiuan right now.  Let's see how well I can write.  Should be fun.  Somebody's smoking.  Jerk.

We came up to Borongan Sunday night because there was a zone training on Monday (yesterday).  I love it when the whole zone gets together.

Too crowded.

LATER

We went to see the Arellano family this morning as soon as we got back from Borongan.  They've got a problem.  Sister's father (Roberto Umil) owns the land that they live on.  On Sunday morning, as they were getting ready for church, he came up to them and said, "So, you're leaving now?"  They answered in the affirmative.  He continued: "Okay, go to church.  But on the third time you go to church, you can expect to get off my land."  The freakin' prick!  Why is he so bent out of shape over this?  They weren't the same religion before they became Latter-day Saints; Evelyn was Catholic, and her father is Jehovah's Witness.  Why is he being such a butt-wipe now?  The Arellanos aren't even considering inactivity.  They're so awesome.  A lot of members I've known would just stop coming to church in a situation like this.  What do Pablo and Evelyn do?  They came to church and asked their branch president to help them find a new place to live.
