Well, Elder Millington and I had our first quarrel. Kind of interesting how it was sparked. We just finished teaching Leo Zeta the fifth discussion, and we set the appointment for the sixth discussion at 8:00 Monday evening. On the walk home, Elder Millington asked what else we were going to do for our three hours of work on P-Day. "Hopefully, we'll be able to make an appointment around 6:00," I said. Then he suggested (at least it was a suggestion and not a command; I'll give him credit for that) that we work two hours in the morning, and then have the 8:00 appointment. We did something similar to that last last P-Day.
"No," I said. "I don't like doing that. It cuts into your P-Day."
"Well, so what?" he said. "I'm here to work my butt off" (a line of his that I've become quite familiar with) "and if that means working through P-Day, so be it."
"P-Days are sacred, Elder," I said. This was awarded with his "Oh, please, you're such a slacker" look. "We need our day of rest," I explained. "It's the only chance we have during the week."
"We have plenty of rest," he countered. "I have from now until 9:30 tomorrow morning."
"Fine," I said. "You work on P-Day, and I'll sit around on my fat butt being lazy." I almost said "fat ass." That would've knocked his socks off. Basta (multi use word, in this case meaning something like "anyway"), it was this statement (and the attitude I said it with) that raised the intensity and volume of the argument. Basically, Elder Millington's side of the rest of the discussion was "I'm such a diligent worker that I don't need a day of rest, and I wish everyone would measure up to my standards." That wasn't a direct quote. This is, though: "I've seldom met anyone who can keep up with me." Is the big head a result of the rod up his ass, or vice versa? My side of the argument was basically: "Get off my back, I like P-Day, stop calling me lazy, you aren't senior companion." I was quite upset. Millington seemed upset, too. It was a long time coming. I think we both needed to blow off some steam. It didn't help that today sucked.
